stitched landscape
Part of my homework for my ‘Quilten Speciaal’ course is to make a stitched piece from a photo of a landscape. I’ve never done this before, this is my first attempt. I used some pieces of handdyed fabric as a base and added stitching. I’m not sure if this is the way to do this, but at least it does look a little like the landscape in the photo. I took a bit of artist’s licence, though. It’s surprising what a bit of stitching can do.
I think I’ll try some more photo’s, practice makes perfect!

Hi Meta,
Beautifully done! I didn’t think the photo was very interesting but it is really interesting in stitch with the added texture. Was it hand or machine stitched or both? You are amazing for all you get done! Janice

You don’t need lessons for this! You’re a natural. Brava and keep up the good work.

Your piece looks much more interesting than the photo! The only suggestion I would make, if I may, is I’d like to see your horizon be straighter rather than curved – only because that reflects the natural landscape, but then perhaps you wanted to step outside nature into a more surreal likeness. Hope this comment is helpful. Your work is wonderful so keep doing more.

Thanks, Pamela, you’re right, the horizon is a little curved, but I didn’t really mind, as the world is round!

Beautiful, and whether or not this is “the” way to do it, this is your way and it obviously gives a great result! I especially like how you’ve got the grass in the front look so real.
